Anwar Pirzada or Peerzada (Sindhi: انور پيرزادو), was a researcher, anthropologist and expert on Sindhi history, language and Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai's poetry. His book was laucnhed in Jan 2015 a conference in the Arts Council, Karachi. (The conference was held to commemorate the poet’s death anniversary and to launch his book, The Cultural Heritage of Sindh. ) JOURNALISM In 30-year experience of working Journalism Anwar worked with the DAWN Group of Newspapers, in different capacities writing investigative stories on Sindh, surveying and analyzing the Cultural Heritage of Sindh and its environment besides the socio-economic and political aspects of life in Sindh. In 1981 he worked as DAWN Correspondent at Larkana. Later In 1982 he was appointed as Bureau Chief, THE STAR, Karachi, at Sukkur. Anwar contributed a regular column entitled “Sindhi Press Digest” to the English daily DAWN, Karachi for six years from 1988 to 1994 and "Sindh Scenario", to THE STAR, Karachi from 1984 to 1987 covering socio-economic and political aspects of life in Sindh. He worked as Editor for an English daily, Sindh Tribune, Karachi, for a period of two years 1996-97. Also contributed news and views to the other English dailies such as The News, The Nation, The Frontier Post, The Pakistan Times and The Chronicle, Islamabad, besides the leading monthly English magazines such as Herald and Newsline in capacity of a freelance journalist. In 2005, he edited a newly launched English daily THE REGIONAL TIMES OF SINDH from Karachi. As a journalist, he interviewed a number of leading politicians of Pakistan such as late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Ms Benazir Bhutto, twice Prime Minister of Pakistan, Khan Abdul Wali Khan, a veteran Pashtun Leader of Pakistan, late Mir Ghous Bux Khan Bizenjo, the main Opposition Leader of Balochistan, late G. M. Syed, the veteran Opposition Leader of Sindh, Sobho Giyanchandani, late Karim Bux Nizamani, Rasool Bux Palijo, Jam Saqi and others. He has also worked as Editor of a number of Sindhi newspapers such as daily Awami Awaz, Sindh Sujag, and Barsat published in the Sindhi language from Karachi and Hyderabad.
